Example 1 — Team A (Underdog)
Odds for Team A to win are 2.50 (or 3/2, or +150). A ৳1,000 bet returns ৳2,500 if Team A wins (৳1,500 profit + original ৳1,000). If Team A loses, the full ৳1,000 is gone.
Example 2 — Team B (Favourite)
Odds for Team B to win are 1.80 (or 4/5, or -125). American minus odds mean you bet that amount to win 100. A ৳1,000 bet returns ৳1,800 if Team B wins (৳800 profit).
Live betting — odds shift when a wicket falls
Live in-play betting is a different experience from regular pre-match betting. Odds update in real time every over and after every wicket while the match is in progress. If a team loses three wickets in five overs, their odds of winning rise quickly — meaning the return on betting on that team gets bigger, but so does the risk.
When runs come quickly in the powerplay, the batting team's odds shorten. If runs dry up in the middle overs and partnerships break, the situation reverses. In the death overs, if the match is close, the odds for both teams can become nearly equal.
In Test cricket, live betting moves at a slower pace. Pitch conditions change through the day; as bowlers get more turn or swing, the batting team's odds go up. The nature of betting over five days is quite different from pre-match.
